> Time needs Space. You need both. Absent is Lisboa's phone-free café, creative space, and event venue in Príncipe Real - among the only venues of its kind anywhere. Open to everyone: walk-ins, members, event-goers, and companies alike.

## The manifesto
Absent exists for people who miss having time that truly belongs to them. At the door, the phone goes into a secure pouch, unlockable anytime. What's left is a room built entirely around presence - no algorithm deciding what comes next, and no notifications pulling attention away from what's actually in front of you.

Do nothing, really well. Absent doesn't prescribe how time should be spent - it hands it back. Read for hours. Play board games. Draw, journal, make something with your hands. Have a real conversation. Or do nothing at all. The space adapts to whatever you came for.

## Design and quality
Every color, texture, and detail is chosen deliberately so presence doesn't have to be forced, the space does it. Warm textures, considered lighting, quieter corners.

Quality over quantity, throughout: carefully curated art and craft supplies, books worth reading, board games worth playing (chess, mahjong, Catan, Pictionary, and more), materials people actually want to use. Specialty coffee from, a curated selection of Portuguese wines, craft beers, and a Middle Eastern food from a Palestinian chef and select bites from local Lisbon bakeries.

## For individuals
No membership required to walk in for coffee, food, or a public event. Frequent events open to non-members as well as members - board game nights, creative workshops (art, macrame, knitting, writing), social evenings, singles nights, Science talks,  many free for members, open to the rest starting from €5.

Membership tiers: Event Absentee (€15/month, 8+ events),  Full Absentee (€25/month, full access including materials). No annual contracts.

## For companies
Board perfect meetings are overrated. Absent hosts corporate offsites, team meetings, strategy days, facilitated workshops, and company celebrations for teams of 20-70 seated or up to 100 standing, a distraction-free alternative to the hotel conference room, in the same phone-free environment that makes the rest of Absent work.

Half-day and full-day formats, hosted or expert-facilitated. Recurring options: quarterly strategy sessions, employee memberships at scale, year-round facilitated programmes.
